GRATE CHEF® GRILL WIPES
Non-Toxic, Biodegradable Cleaning Product Betters Barbeque and the Environment

ATLANTA – Ever wonder how restaurants achieve those distinct grill marks on meats and vegetables? The founders of Grate Chef® set out to find the answer and discovered that cooking on a clean, well-oiled grate is how the professionals create this visual phenomenon. Now, with three out of four U.S. households owning a grill, the company is supplying consumers worldwide with the at-home solution to restaurant quality grilling: Grill Wipes.
Available in major hardware, grocery and specialty retailers across the country and internationally, Grill Wipes make it easier and better to barbecue. Grill Wipes are disposable, pre-moistened wipes made of a patented non-flammable material loaded with a specially formulated restaurant grade grilling oil to both clean and oil the grill grate so foods do not stick. These wipes work easily with a grill brush, helping to strip away charred residue and leave a sheen of oil on the cleaned grate, which in turn creates the sought-after delineated marks on food. More importantly, Grill Wipes are non-toxic and biodegradable, helping to create a clean, healthy environment.
“Charred food particles left on the grill can significantly alter the flavor of the next meal cooked on it,” says Mike Griffin, co-founder of Grate Chef, LLC. “Grill Wipes can help remove those particles. According to a nutrition analysis from the Food and Drug Administration, Grill Wipes won’t affect flavor or alter a food’s nutritional value.”

There are three easy steps to using Grill Wipes:

  1. Heat the grill to about 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Using a brush, clean the grill grate of chunks of charred food and grease.
  3. Place a Grill Wipes on the grate and, using the brush, wipe the surface until a coating of oil is seen on the cleaned grate.

Touted as the first step in “getting ready to grill” by The BBQ Queens Karen Adler and Judith Fertig in their Big Book of Barbeque, Grill Wipes are these experts’ recommended way to get any grill clean and the grill rack lightly oiled prior to starting the fire.
“We like to use Grate Chef Grill Wipes, pre-moistened towelettes for oiling and cleaning the grill,” say Adler and Furtig.
Grill Wipes may also be used after cooking on a cooled grill to keep grates oiled between barbecuing. Repeated use of these wipes will treat the metal grates of a grill, preventing rust and making future clean-up much easier. Grill Wipes retail for $2.99 (MSRP) for a package of six heavy-duty, disposable wipes. This will provide one month of safe, clean grilling for the average family.
Grate Chef products are sold nationwide in grocery stores (Kroger, Giant Supermarkets, Marsh Supermarkets, Meijer, Publix, Safeway, Supervalu and Wegman’s); hardware stores (Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Lowe’s); and specialty stores. Grate Chef products are also sold internationally in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Italy, Mexico and New Zealand.
Founded in 2002 and headquartered in Dacula, Georgia, Grate Chef’s vision is to provide convenient and unique grilling accessories to the everyday, backyard griller. For more information, visit www.gratechef.com or call 877-900-8415.
